MISSION BUSTERS: DIVISION

There is nothing that will derail a mission faster than division within the ranks. When there is not unity of purpose and unity in the understanding of the mission and our roles within that mission, we will get off course, and often turn on one another.

Factions and divisions in the church are nothing new, but they are a mission buster that will derail us. Instead of fighting the enemy, we fire at one another.

It is said that the American Civil War was the deadliest war in American history. The main reason for that is because it was a war fought between brothers of the same country. Often fathers and sons and brothers were fighting on opposite sides of the battle lines. What ensued was utter destruction.

This morning, we want to avoid that from happening within the church by taking a look at what Paul had to say about divisions in the church and how we ought to look at our role in the body of Christ.

Let’s begin by taking a look at 1 Cor. 1:10-17.
